Introduction
SafeGallery ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application SafeGallery (the "App"). Please read this policy carefully.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
1. Device Permissions
SafeGallery requires the following permissions to function:
- Read/Write Media Storage (Android 13+:
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO; older versions: READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Used to display your photos and videos, and to save edited or restored media.
- Biometric Authentication (
USE_BIOMETRIC): Used to securely unlock the private vault. No biometric data is stored or transmitted by the App.
- All Files Access (Android 11+,
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required to move files into the encrypted vault on newer Android versions.
- Internet (for the free version only): Used solely to display advertisements via Google Mobile Ads. No personal data is sent to our servers.
- Media Management (Android 13+,
MANAGE_MEDIA): Used to move files to and from the trash (recycle bin) without repeated system dialogs. Also used to permanently delete trashed items. This permission is optional — without it, deletion requires a system confirmation for each batch.
2. Non-Personal Information
We may collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports through third-party services (Google Play Console) to improve the App. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information (name, email, address, etc.).
- We do not collect or transmit your photos, videos, or any media files.
- We do not collect vault PINs or biometric data.
- We do not use analytics SDKs that track your activity across other apps.
Advertising
The free version of SafeGallery displays banner and interstitial advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can learn more about how Google uses data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
AdMob is configured to serve only non-personalized ads when the app is used in regions covered by the Families Policy. We do not use behavioral or interest-based advertising targeting children.
The Pro version of SafeGallery is completely ad-free and does not load any advertising SDK.
Families Policy Declaration
SafeGallery complies with Google Play's Families Policy as follows:
Target Audience
SafeGallery is a general-audience photo and video management tool. It is not specifically targeted at children under the age of 13. However, we recognize that the App may be used incidentally by families.
Data Collection from Children
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
- We do not request age, gender, or any demographic information.
- No account creation or registration is required.
- No persistent identifiers (e.g., device IDs, advertising IDs) are collected or transmitted by the App.
Advertising Compliance
- AdMob is configured to serve non-personalized ads only.
- Behavioral advertising, remarketing, and interest-based targeting are disabled.
- Ads are reviewed to comply with Google's Families Policy requirements.
App Content
- The App allows access to the device's photo and video gallery. It does not create or host user-generated content that is publicly accessible.
- The vault feature requires a PIN and optional biometric authentication. Parents should supervise children's use of these features.
Parental Guidance: We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children's app usage. SafeGallery's vault and media management features are designed for general audiences but may contain personal media that parents should review.
COPPA Compliance
SafeGallery complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
Vault & Encryption
SafeGallery offers an optional encrypted vault feature:
- Files moved to the vault are encrypted using AES-256 GCM encryption and stored in an app-private directory.
- Encryption keys are derived from device-specific keystore credentials and are never transmitted outside the device.
- The vault is secured with a 4-digit PIN and optional biometric authentication. PINs are stored locally using Android's hardware-backed keystore.
- We have no ability to recover vault PINs or encrypted data. If you forget your PIN, the vault and all its contents will be permanently deleted upon reset.
Critical Warning: SafeGallery uses your device's local encryption keys tied to the Android Keystore. If you uninstall the App, clear app data, or reset your device, all files in the vault will be permanently lost and cannot be recovered. We strongly recommend backing up any important files before uninstalling.
File Handling & Deletion
SafeGallery allows you to delete media files from your device's storage. The following applies:
- When you delete a file through the App, it is removed from your device's media store. On Android 11+, a system confirmation dialog is shown before deletion. On older versions, a confirmation dialog is displayed.
- Deleted files may be recoverable through third-party data recovery tools. SafeGallery does not perform secure overwrite deletion.
- The App only deletes files that you explicitly select and confirm for deletion.
Disclaimer of Liability: SafeGallery is a tool that facilitates file management at your direction. By using the App, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are solely responsible for the files you choose to delete, modify, or move to the vault.
- We are not liable for any loss of data, files, or content resulting from the use of the App, including but not limited to accidental deletion, vault access loss, file corruption, or device malfunction.
- We are not liable if you uninstall the App, reset your device, or clear app data and lose access to protected vault files.
- It is your responsibility to maintain backups of important files. SafeGallery does not provide cloud backup or sync services for vault contents.
Recommendation: Regularly back up your device's media files to a secondary location (cloud storage, computer, etc.). Vault-protected files should be decrypted and exported before uninstalling the App.
Trash / Recycle Bin
SafeGallery includes an optional trash feature (Android 11+) that temporarily stores deleted files. The following applies:
- When trash is enabled, deleted files are moved to the trash instead of being permanently deleted. Items in the trash are automatically deleted after a configurable number of days (7–365).
- The
MANAGE_MEDIA permission (Android 13+) allows the App to move files to and from the trash without a system confirmation dialog. If this permission is not granted, a system dialog is shown for each trash operation.
- Emptying the trash permanently deletes all files. On Android 11+, a system dialog or
MANAGE_MEDIA permission is used depending on availability.
- Once emptied or expired, trashed files cannot be recovered through the App. Data recovery tools may still be able to recover them.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Vault files are encrypted with AES-256 GCM before being written to disk.
- Encryption keys are stored in the Android hardware-backed Keystore (StrongBox where available).
- All cryptographic operations are performed entirely on-device. No data leaves your device.
- We do not operate any servers; all data remains local to your device.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob (free version only): Serves advertisements. See AdMob Privacy Policy.
- Liftoff Monetize (Vungle) (free version only): Serves advertisements. Collects device identifiers (including Android Advertising ID), IP address, and usage data for ad targeting and measurement. See Liftoff Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Console: Provides crash reporting and anonymized usage statistics.
These services have their own privacy policies governing data handling.
You can opt out of interest-based advertising in your device's Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and on this page. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

You expressly acknowledge and agree that SafeGallery is not responsible for data loss resulting from:

This policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
